Looking for the first step in working with scuba as a career? Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational scuba diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

Practical and Theory

Candidates will successfully complete the following practical skills, workshops and assessments:

  • Dive site set up and management
  • Mapping project
  • Dive briefings
  • Search and Recovery Scenario
  • Deep dive scenario
  • Divemaster-conducted programs workshops – learning to deliver Divemaster-conducted courses
  • Practical assessments with student divers in confined and open water

Candidates will work closely with a PADI Instructor who will evaluate and assist with any areas requiring improvement.

You will complete all nine chapters of the PADI Divemaster Manual and DVD, including creating an emergency assistance plan. At the end of each chapter there is a “knowledge review” to ensure that you have understood the information. Your instructor will assist you with this and administer a final exam. This is not meant to test you, all of the questions are multiple choice, it is to ensure that you understand the information. If there are any gaps in your knowledge your instructor will ensure that you understand before moving on.
